A New Finish for Your Concrete Pool

Gunite Pool Resurfacing and Replastering in North Bethesda MD

The PoolTek Way to Pool Restoration

Your pool should be the easiest part of your property. We keep it that way with steady, dependable care year after year.

What Is Gunite, and Why Renovate?

Gunite is sprayed concrete over a steel frame. It makes a strong, lasting pool shell. But the surfaces on top of it, the plaster, tile and coping, wear out over the years.

Plaster stained or so rough it hurts your kids’ toes? Tiles falling off? Coping loose or cracked? A renovation fixes the surface, protects the shell and gives the pool a fresh look.

When to Consider a Gunite Renovation

Renovating at the right time stops small problems from turning into costly ones. Watch for these signs:

Cracks in the Shell or Plaster
Hairline or deeper cracks are often the first warning.
Rough, Stained or Worn Plaster
Rough patches, stains and scale mean the finish is wearing thin.
Loose or Cracked Tile and Coping
We remove the coping, repair the bond beam underneath, reset the coping and install new tile.
Plaster That's Been Acid Washed Before
An acid wash strips a thin top layer to clear stains and scale. It only works a limited number of times before replastering is needed.
Leaks or Water Loss
Topping off the pool often? Have it checked with our leak detection service first.
An Outdated Look or Layout
We can change the shape or depth, add a tanning ledge or put in new water features.

How do you resurface a gunite pool?

We drain the pool and remove the old finish. Then we repair any structural cracks, prep the surface and apply a new premium finish.

Only a limited number of times. Each wash removes a thin layer of plaster. When the finish still looks worn after a wash, replastering is the long-term fix.

The bond beam is the top edge of the pool shell. It holds the tile and coping in place. Repairing it before resetting the coping helps the pool structure last longer.

Yes. A renovation is a good time to add waterfalls, deck jets, LED lights or a tanning ledge. Call (973) 236-0160 to talk through ideas.
